What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

This past week, a gathering was held by the Apple C0untry Woodcrafters, to distribute the toys to the agencies that will be serving the children. The room was set up with tables for each agency and stacked up with the toys each one would receive. Cradles, wagons and strollers with bears and quilts were under every table. The abundance of toys was so wonderful to see. The Apple C0untry Woodcrafters reported that this delivery to the participating agencies has 2700 toys!

The cradle quilt drive has been amazing. Before we began Autumn Jubilee, I did two updates with photos of the 73 quilts that were received in September. The month of October has been nothing short of miraculous! This will be a very long and picture heavy post, as there are more than 100 more quilts to acknowledge. Unfortunately, some were received without any means to let the giver know, so I hope you will see your shipment here, and know that each and every one is appreciated. Happy Mail this week brought more Cradle Quilts for the drive. I am just blown away by the generosity of readers who not only make the quilts, but pay to ship them to me. One day there were five packages to pick up! How fun is this! And I know there are more on the way.

Another week of wildlife visits, this small flock of turkeys came by for a meal. I’m pretty sure these are four of the flock of seven that were here last week. They certainly came up running up from the lower meadow just like last time when I stepped out to the veranda and began tossing out some seed to the ground.

I do not know where the other three went, but these guys and gals enjoyed a small feast.

Sometimes in addition to our regular business meeting and program, we have a presentation from one of our charity partners. This past meeting we had a display and talk about our work with the local woodworkers. They make the most wonderful toys and our guild helps with making what we call ‘cradle quilts’ although they go in more than just cradles. I’m not sure who makes the bears.

They also do wagons entirely made of wood.

Rocking chairs just big enough for a small child, and an all wood stroller also have quilts and bears.
